Why Can’t My Life Be a Rom-Com? is a fun, meta-take on the romance genre. It follows Eliza, whose life feels like a series of “un-romantic” moments until she decides to follow the tropes of her favorite movies to find love. Working with E! Entertainment and NBCUniversal was a blast—the project had a lighthearted, vibrant energy that reflected in our VFX work. We tackled 40 shots in three weeks, ranging from standard clean-up to more creative elements that leaned into the film’s romantic comedy aesthetic. It was a fast-paced, high-energy delivery that fit perfectly with the movie’s spirit.
